To assure a positive experience for our guests and the safety of our youth volunteers in the PADS shelters the following guidelines are to be followed:
Youth volunteers under the age of 18 may assist at the PADS shelters, accompanied by their parents or group chaperones. This age group should be encouraged to assist with set up, table decoration, packing lunches, food preparation and collections of needed items.
Youth volunteers must submit a signed approval of their parent/guardian before serving at a PADS site.
Youth volunteers should be assigned duties working side by side with adult volunteers who will be supervising them at all times.
Youth volunteers are not allowed in the sleeping areas or outside at any time.
Youth volunteers may not leave the Site except when accompanied by a parent/guardian when returning home.
Youth volunteers should be reminded not to share personal information or wear clothing indicating their high school or other groups with which they are associated.
Youth volunteers must wear appropriate clothing not showing midriffs or short shorts.
Parents/guardians are responsible for all transportation to and from the PADS site.
Youth volunteers must depart the PADS sites by 10 PM.
Youth volunteers should be reminded that it is essential to maintain confidentiality with all information regarding the identity of any PADS guest. This is crucial, should this PADS guest be a youth they are familiar with through school, church or other organizations.
